Services
Good Omen Counseling provides individual psychotherapy for adults through a convenient Telehealth platform. As a fully virtual practice, we proudly serve clients across the entire states of Massachusetts, Nevada, and South Carolina. Our expertise spans various therapeutic modalities, including TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, and ART trained, among others. Explore below to learn more about the diverse range of clients we are committed to supporting.
Animal Assisted Telehealth Therapy
At GOC, we believe that technology can help overcome many barriers to accessing care, including bringing the comfort of therapy directly into your home. Through telehealth, we offer both Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) and Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI). These sessions can be tailored to your needs, whether that means having your own pet join you on camera to aid in emotional regulation or incorporating images and live streams of animals. Additionally, our GOC family includes two rescue dogs and cats who are available to participate in your sessions upon request.
Loss & Bereavement
Loss touches all of us in different ways, whether it’s the passing of a cherished person or the loss of a beloved family pet. The pain is real, and it deserves compassionate care. We offer specialized counseling for both human and animal loss, providing support to help you navigate your grief and begin the healing process.
Veterinary Professionals & Support Staff
Mental health in the veterinary field is a critical issue that too often goes unaddressed. A 2019 study by the Centers for Disease Control revealed that veterinarians are two to four times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. At GOC, we are committed to changing this narrative. We offer dedicated counseling services for veterinarians and veterinary support staff, providing the support needed to combat the unique challenges and stresses of the profession
Embracing the Journey of Aging
Aging brings its own set of unique challenges, and we’re here to support you through this significant life transition. Our approach, rooted in life review narrative therapy, encourages you to reflect on and celebrate your life’s story. Together, we work to honor your experiences, providing a sense of closure and fulfillment as you navigate the complexities of growing older.
First Responders &
High Vicarious Trauma Fields
High Vicarious Trauma Fields
Whether you're a first responder, physician, nurse, or veterinarian, working in high-stress fields means facing vicarious trauma regularly. The demands of these roles often leave little to no time for decompressing between intense situations. At GOC, we provide specialized therapy to support those in these professions (and many others), helping to combat compassion fatigue and burnout so you can continue to care for others while also caring for yourself.
About Me
Welcome to Good Omen Counseling LLC!
My name is Amanda Peritore, and I am a licensed clinical social worker located in Upstate South Carolina. I specialize in veterinary social work, a unique field that allows me to work in the sacred space where humans and animals meet; particularly during pet loss and bereavement. I wholeheartedly understand that losing a pet can be just as painful, if not more so, than losing a close person in your life. I focus on honoring grief and shame, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing.
I am passionate about working through loss and bereavement, as well as supporting individuals through various life transitions. Whether you are facing a difficult break-up, uncertainty in your career, or navigating the challenges of aging, I am here to help. I utilize life review narrative therapy to honor long-lived lives and provide a sense of closure and fulfillment.
I work with individuals and organizations to help define and achieve personal and professional goals. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, and I frequently use therapies such as TF-CBT, ACT, DBT, and ART to issues surrounding trauma, self-worth, self-compassion, stress, and anxiety, and interpersonal relationships.
I am especially dedicated to supporting frontline workers, veterinary professionals, and those in high vicarious trauma fields. My goal is to help these professionals develop the skills necessary to prioritize their own well-being and leverage those skills to build a better system for all.
“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish
the light of a single candle.”
