About Me

Welcome to Good Omen Counseling LLC!

My name is Amanda Peritore, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in Upstate South Carolina specializing in veterinary social work. Veterinary social work is a unique field that allows me to work in the sacred space where humans and animals meet—supporting both the people who love animals and the professionals whose work revolves around caring for them.

My work has a particular focus on pet loss and bereavement, veterinary professional support, peer support, and critical incident debriefing. Across these areas, I am interested in one central question: How do we better care for the people who spend their lives caring for others

Good Omen Counseling isn't a traditional therapy practice. We creates spaces where people in the human-animal bond don't have to navigate difficult experiences alone. Through a convenient Telehealth platform, we proudly serve clients across the entire states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York. and South Carolina. Pet Loss & Bereavement

I wholeheartedly understand that losing an animal companion can be just as painful, and sometimes even more painful, than losing a person we love. The bond we share with our animals is profound, yet grief following pet loss is often misunderstood, minimized, or even met with shame.

I believe that grief deserves to be honored rather than rushed, explained away, or fixed. My work creates space for people to openly acknowledge the significance of their relationships with their animals and to navigate loss alongside others who truly understand. Sometimes, healing begins with simply hearing: “Me too.”

We offer specialized peer support groups for client's of Faithful Hearts Vet, & Paws Finding Peace; providing support to help you navigate your grief and begin the healing process.

Veterinary Debriefing

My goal is to help professionals develop the skills, connections, and support systems necessary to prioritize their own well-being while also contributing to healthier workplaces and stronger systems of care.

I don't believe the answer is simply asking people to become more resilient. I believe we need to build communities where people don't have to be resilient alone. That belief is at the heart of my work and the heart of Good Omen Counseling. We offer dedicated supportive services for veterinarians and veterinary support staff, debriefing and peer support groups to help veterinary professionals process challenging events, and foster resilience.

Unlike counseling or therapy, debriefing is a guided discussion aimed at reducing stress, improving team cohesion, and fostering resilience. It can be provided one-on-one or in a group setting. I offer peer-to-peer support groups for veterinarians, tailored to specific specialties such as:

Zoo veterinarians

Veterinary pet loss and grief support

Staff debriefing after challenging events

Clinical Supervision

I provide clinical supervision for social workers pursuing independent clinical licensure. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in ethical, evidence-based practice. Together, we’ll deepen your clinical conceptualization, build diagnostic confidence, explore use of self, and navigate complex cases with clarity and integrity. Animal Assisted Telehealth Interventions

Through telehealth, we offer Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI). These sessions can be tailored to your needs, whether that means having your own pet join you on camera to aid in emotional regulation or incorporating images and live streams of animals. Additionally, our GOC family includes two rescue dogs (Laszlo and Sasha) and two cats (Ash and Lucius) who are available to participate in your sessions upon request.
